Pricing FAQ.
- Is Planar billed per user or per workspace?
- Planar is billed per workspace in v1, not per seat. A workspace covers the business — you, your team, and your clients. Multi-user team accounts arrive on the Studio tier in v1.5. We chose per-workspace because the alternative (per-seat) creates a tax on team growth that doesn't reflect any underlying cost on our side. The top tier can be priced higher because there's no per-seat math compounding it.
- Does Planar take a cut of customer payments?
- No. Planar's platform transaction fee on customer payments routed through Stripe Connect is 0%. Stripe's standard processing fees (2.9% + $0.30 in the US) still apply to the payment itself, but Planar takes no additional cut. Competitor Ignition charges 1% + $0.30 per transaction (capped at $5). No leading proposal tool — PandaDoc, Qwilr, Proposify, HoneyBook, Better Proposals — takes a cut of customer payments, and Planar doesn't either.
- What is the Founder plan?
- The Founder plan is $29/month for 12 months on Pro features, available to the first 100 customers. After the 12-month period, the workspace converts to standard Plus or Pro at the customer's choice. The Founder plan exists to reward early adopters and seed a vocal initial cohort, without permanently capping ARPU on the highest-engagement customers.
- What's included in the 14-day free trial?
- Full access to Pro features for 14 days. No credit card required to start. At the end of the trial you can choose Plus, Pro, Studio, or simply not continue. Planars created during the trial are retained — they don't expire.
- Annual vs monthly billing?
- Annual billing offers roughly a 20% discount and matches the market convention (Ignition, HoneyBook, Dubsado all offer similar). Monthly is fully self-service from the workspace settings. Annual is also self-service and prorated if you switch.
- Can I change tiers later?
- Yes. Tier changes take effect at the next billing cycle (upgrades) or immediately with proration (downgrades). All your Planars, branding, and analytics history move with you.
- Do you offer discounts for non-profits or education?
- Yes — 50% off any tier for verified 501(c)(3) non-profits and accredited educational institutions. Email hello@openplanar.com to apply.
- What happens to my Planars if I cancel?
- All live Planars remain accessible for 90 days after cancellation; you can export every Planar as a PDF and your structured data as JSON. After 90 days, draft data is removed; signed Planars are retained for the legally-required audit-trail retention period (7 years) and remain accessible on read-only URLs.
